Hive is a content-based platform and anytime I want to get someone on hive, once they know I write they just stop listening.
I was talking to one guy and he said "if it is a platform that involves writing, I should count him out".
A lot of people have a lot of thoughts that are wrong when it comes to hive.
In this post, I will be talking about 3 misconceptions a lot of newbies have that make them fail at their first few attempts with the hive community.
So when I started my journey on hive, I thought I couldn't do it because I was not a writer and my English was and remains bad.
On my very first post, I made about 12 dollars or so.

After spending a few months and I started getting upvotes for my post, I discovered that you don't need to be a writer to be recognized on hive.
I have seen a lot of write-ups with very bad English, sometimes no flow but there is a message.
The truth about it is that if you put up something of value and you consistently improve your writing, you will get better rewards.
Your writing game needs to improve but if you are a good writer and you don't have value you will most likely fail.
I have seen many good writers fail on hive. I have brought many writers who thought that since it is writing they will succeed but lost of them failed.
The thing is improving your writing game will help your work look better.
This in turn means better conversation, better relationships and better rewards.
But trust me, you don't need to be an over the top writer to be successful on hive.
What you need to make you successful on hive is having a very good social skill set.
This means you increasing your ability to create relationships.
This can be correct but for a newbie 95% of the time it is wrong.
For a fact, if you post less and comment more, you will earn more than most people writing 3 underquality posts a day.
If you have passed the newbie stage and you have created relationships, then the more you post, the more you earn.
Note: if you comment more and focus more on establishing relationships as a newbie, you are most likely to go far in the long run.
The single most important thing to do on hive is creating affiliations.

When I started hive, I would take ages to write a serious post.
Sometimes I start and don't finish because it doesn't come naturally.
This made hive look so stressful.
The truth is there is room for a serious write-up.
However, just be you. Do what you do on your conventional web 2.0
If you study 
You don't have to be serious all the time. You have to find a set of people you flow with and tag alone.
Be yourself in this space. There will always be a community that will resonate with your energy.
You have to find that community and tag along with them.
The secret of succeeding on hive is originality not necessarily over seriousness...
If you love to talk about sport, rant about it the way you do on your status.
If you like to joke around, the LOL community is available for that.
If you like to talk about the economy and financial stuff the leofinance community is there for that.
If you like to display your talent, there are over ten communities that support displaying of talents.
If you watch movies and like to talk about them, talk about it on hive.
I hear a lot of newbies say things that hive is not as interesting as other social networks.
This might be true but I think it's because you have not found your space.
Most of the people I talk to on hive have made hive interesting for me.
The hivenaija community is one space I like to stay in and I feel at home scrolling through the community.
