The corona virus is known to have a special protein coating which contributes to its virulence or in other words strength and deadliness, when we apply sanitizers with alcohol percentage of at least 70% it is able to remove this coat and render them more or less infertile and powerless, killing them as a result. It is the same mechanism that the soap also uses however one has to wash for a quite some time so it can be effective. Spirit and bleach are also powerful enough to kill the virus.
