Blue is a blue macaw from Brazil who mistakenly ended up in Minnesota, USA. He's accustomed to the presence of humans, especially his owner, and his behavior is very humanized—so much so that he's forgotten his true nature and how to navigate his own environment. However, his species is endangered, so his owner must take him back to Brazil to mate with Jewel (a female of his species). Upon arriving in Brazil, Blue (the protagonist) not only has to deal with bird smugglers but also with adapting to his new surroundings and learning the customs of a land that is supposed to be his by nature.
Blue es un Guacamayo azul proveniente de Brasil que terminó por error en Minnesota USA, el caso es que está acostumbrado a la presencia de humanos y en especial de su dueña, su comportamiento es muy humanizado, de hecho tanto que ha olvidado su esencia y el hecho de como moverse en su propio entorno, sin embargo su especie está en peligro de extinción, así que su dueña debe llevarlo a Brasil para aparearse con Perla (una hembra de su especie) Sin embargo al llegar a Brasil, Blue (el protagonista) no solo tiene que lidiar con contrabandistas de aves, sino también con el hecho de adaptarse a su propio entorno a vivir y seguir als costumbres de una tierra que se supone es suya por naturaleza.
The first thing I have to say is that it's clear it was directed by a Brazilian, Carlos Saldanha, which is crucial for minimizing errors when making cultural references, or rather, when representing Brazilian culture. The film is visually stunning; it's beautiful. The landscapes of Rio de Janeiro stand out, and they even depicted the famous favelas very well. I'm struck by the fluid movement of the birds and the natural way they move their heads, despite being somewhat humanized.
Lo primero que tengo que decir es que se nota que fue dirigida por un brasileño, Carlos Saldanha, lo cuál es importantísimo para cometer la menor cantidad de errores posibles al momento de hacer referencias culturales o directamente, mejor dicho, representar la cultura en este caso de Brasil. La película impacta visualmente, es hermosa, destacan los paisajes de Río de Janeiro e incluso representaron muy bien las famosas favelas, me llama la atención el movimiento tan fluido de las aves y la manera tan natural en que mueven la cabeza, a pesar de estar de cierta manera humanizadas.
The film is truly visually stunning, but it also raises awareness in many ways. On one hand, there's the ecological impact, the way in which greed and indiscriminate hunting can, and in fact already has, wiped out many animal species. On the other hand, there's the challenge of confronting different realities and stepping outside our comfort zones. For Blue, leaving Minnesota and returning to Brazil wasn't easy because he had almost no memories, but this allowed him to reconnect with his roots and discover that he truly did belong there. In fact, there's a scene where Blue begins to move as if his body were acting of its own volition, and for me, it alludes to the ease and skill with which Brazilians dance to their own music, how they move with innate grace.
La película de verdad impacta de manera visual pero también ayuda a crear consciencia en muchos sentidos, por un lado tenemos el impacto ecológico, la manera en la que la codicia y la caza indiscriminada puede acabar, y de hecho ha acabado ya con muchas especies de animales, por otro lado tenemos el hecho de enfrentarnos a realidades diferentes y salir de nuestra zona de confort, para Blue no fue nada fácil salir de Minesota y regresar a Brasil porque él casi no conservaba recuerdos, pero esto le permitió reencontrarse con sus propias raíces y descubrir que en realidad si pertenecía a ese lugar. De hecho hay una escena donde Blue comienza a moverse como si su cuerpo actuara por voluntad propia, y para mi hace referencia a esa facilidad y habilidad con la que los brasileños bailan su propia música, como se mueven con gracias innata.
