Hello everyone, you're welcome to my blog today.
Nobody deserves to have their private moments turned into entertainment for strangers on the internet. Unfortunately, social media has made this happen more often. When people see someone struggling, crying, arguing, or even having a medical emergency, instead of helping, they pull out their phones and start recording. Before you know it, the video has gone very viral, and meanwhile, the person in the video never agreed to be filmed or shared with millions of people. To me, that is where the problem really lies.
That's why I don't think there should be laws for ordinary situations like these, except in extreme cases where people are deliberately exposed, offended, or subjected to some form of harassment. In those cases, the context changes completely. We really need to learn to see everyday events as just that: normal events. Sometimes, trying to regulate everything, even when there is no real invasion of privacy, may not be the best approach. Maybe it's better to leave some things as they are so the world doesn't become overly complicated and full of restrictions. Or would we rather reach a point where we feel like we can't do anything anymore without worrying that we're doing something wrong? Let's keep life a little lighter.
I don't think someone should be arrested because another person happened to appear in the background of their picture or video. That would make things unnecessarily complicated. Imagine content creators, photographers, vloggers, journalists, or even tourists who simply want to capture a beautiful moment. It would be almost impossible for them to make content if they had to get permission from every single person who appeared in the background of their videos.
When people are present in public places, their right to personal privacy is somewhat relaxed because it is an open place where other people can also be present. Many people think that taking photos or videos in public places should not be a crime. In the current era of deepfake or AI technology, the fear of misuse of photos or videos is not unfounded. If someone videos me without my knowledge and uploads that video to social media, and that video is used intentionally, it certainly falls under the category of a crime.
That would honestly be stressful. At the same time, I also believe there should be limits. Just because someone is in a public place doesn't mean they have completely given up their right to privacy. For example, I seriously don't want to see a video of something I do privately on the internet at all.
So, that will never happen—recording something on your camera and putting your stuff on social media without capturing a single person. It will never ever happen. In every corner of the world, human beings are living life; there are very few places where people live less. It also depends on the surroundings. While you are on the road, some are making videos openly, and you might get captured; that is a very normal thing. This is what I think works for me if I get captured randomly.
