On Saturday morning we wrapped up our beach trip.
We loaded up the vehicles, took a few of our party to the airport as they were flying home, and the rest of us ventured out on what should have been a six-hour drive.
I had already anticipated a bit of a delay as we were traveling with my 2-year-old grandson, and trips are never fast with a toddler.
It turns out that he was the least of our delays, and he actually traveled very well, all things considered.
I am not a fan of long drives. I find them very boring. I have been fortunate recently that I have a phone with a mobile hotspot so I can get on the internet with my computer, and it lasts generally about eight hours before needing charging.
The majority of the scenery on the road trip looks like this.
The first few hours were delayed with very heavy traffic on secondary roads, It would appear that everyone was leaving Florida at the same time.
But then the rain started. And it rained and it rained. For most of the remainder of the trip.
The rain of course caused a few minor accidents which slowed things down further.
All in all the trip took us just over 11 hours. But the important thing is everyone made it home safe and we have great memories of our family beach vacation.
Until next time,
John Novak
