Good evening hivians, i hope your day was nice. Yes mine was good, with the hurdles of being a mum, yet productive and successful, grateful for that.
On this happy note, i want relate how i found myself in the world of craft and creativity. Before marriage, i was a secondary school teacher though not my hubby but life happens and the available became the desirable. After my wedding in February, 2013, i resigned because my hubby’s nature of business requires my time and attention while managing a small business of my own which is water supply. As time went by, I started experiencing economic downturn in my water supply business, caused by poor power supply in the side of the world I found myself, as a result, my power generating set started developing faults upon faults due to over use while running cost is too high to write home about, i was frustrated. I started thinking of a side hustle.
In a bid to ease frustration, i decided to visit an old time friend, mrs Glory. Due to the bond between us she invited me to her bedroom for us to discuss woman to woman without any interuption. I saw lovely handmade bags, footwears, wall decor in her bedroom,
I marveled at the wonder of crafts and creativity with its intricacy. I told her i must go with one or two of those items that i cant go without any of them. She told me she made them herself that she can teach me if i wanted and pleaded with me not go with those items, i agreed.
We arranged for a day to shop for the materials needed for the work and scheduled for the class. She had to be coming to my house for the training session, while i cater for the expenses involved. What a kind and patient lady! It was during the training session that she explained that those things i saw in her room is ‘macrame’ products ( i will explain further in subsiquent post)and that she will teach me how to knot macrame to form beautiful designs. Though not too easy to learn as a beginner, but i was overjoyed at my first few attempts.
