Well, as promised! Here is the first part of my unfinished book, Bio-World!

Chapter 1

“…and not only does today mark the 20th consecutive year of self-sustenance, it undeniably shows that Bio-World is the way to a better, healthier and more eco-friendly future!” The crowd goes wild with applause as Luther brings his well-rehearsed speech to an end, and stretches out both his arms in a worshipping style, to include the entire crystal dome as he drinks in the praise from the population of people there so far below him. “Yes,” he thinks to himself as he gazes down at 1 000 000 people who have literally left the world as we know it behind, “at times even he had his doubts”. But today marks a significant breakthrough for the Bio-World project. It was proclaimed far and wide that by the year 2050 (20 years after the launch of Bio-World) they would have reached their population target of 500 000 citizens. Well today he, Luther Blake, stands with the full support of the entire BW team, a population count of double the target, and the eyes of the entire Earth on him, as his speech is eagerly watched, posted, commented on, and retweeted throughout both worlds.

Lyrica looks out at the crowd of worshiping Bions. From her vantage point, she can easily see everything. Up there, high above the crowd on the hovering podium, Luther Blake and the entire BW board of directors are drinking in the praises of everyone inside the dome, as well as that of the international spectators watching this event LIVE. Just a little below her, the Bions are screaming and cheering to their leaders in much the same way as chimpanzees cheer on their alpha males. “No”, she immediately scolds herself in her mind, “she shouldn’t think stuff like that”… “You don’t compare highly intellectual beings, with a primitive species. And chimpanzees are definitely highly intellectual compared to the Bions!” She takes a glance behind her. Her crew is doing an excellent job of gathering footage. Although, so are all the other news teams from all over the world, well the real world, that is. Bio-World rarely, if ever, does anything right in her books. But, she has to admit to herself while looking back out over the crowd, they really have provided all the international news-teams with an excellent vantage point.

Jake lazily stretches out as the rays of the sun shines into his tent. He and his friends had been planning this camping trip for months. With the big Bio-Loser thing happening today, the whole world has practically come to a standstill this weekend. Almost all the malls are closed, and the few stores or restaurants that will be open will be crowdedly full of people watching the live coverage of the Bio-Loser speech. The waves of the ocean crashes on the beach. It sounds beautiful. What a perfect way to wake up in the morning. Jake listens intently at the waves. How in the world is it possible that a million people decided they want to be modern day mer-people and move down there? The ocean is made to enjoy, to study, to research… not to be inhabited! Well, at least not to be inhabited by anything else than aquatic wild-life! Jake switches on his laptop. Nothing interesting today. Just Bio-Loser related stuff, tweets, updates, and so on. People are really obsessed with this!
