Hello there, black-and-white photography lovers!

This has been the most challenging work till date. It came as a lesson to understand that sometimes the limitations on our space and tools are to be taken seriously before accepting a gig.

Repainting this baby double-bass was hard. Taking off the old paint was a hassle. Then came the realization that using car paint requires a space that isn't full of dust. So I had to removed paint once again to try a different approach.

The second time was better, but both tries requires the tons of thinner to clean afterwards. Yes, with this I understand why many luthiers don't like to paint stuff. It's a really hard and messy job. I'd clean sawdust for a day rather than cleaning paint stains for an hour.

And since the job was so messy, there are few photos of it. But I saved some to show as part of my entry for the #monomad challenge. I think they capture the challenges faced during this gig that turned into an ordeal.

¡Bueno día, amantes de las fotografías en blanco y negro!

Este ha sido el trabajo más difícil que ye hecho hasta ahora. Algunoa de estos aprendizajes vienen en forma de entender que las limitaciones de espacio y herramientas son importantes. Hay que considerar todo antes de tomar un trabajo.

Volver a pintar este baby bass fue un reto. Quitarle la pintura vieja fue un fastidio. Luego, aprender a usar pintura para carros fue interesante, pero con ello vino otra lección. Hay que tener un espacio sin tanto polvo. Así que tuve que volver a quitar la pintura y repintar. Así que intenté otra cosa.

El segundo intento estuvo mejor, pero de ambos aprendí que esto ensucia un montón. Entiendo porque a muchos luthiers no les gustan estos trabajos de pintura. Es difícil y desastroso. Prefiero barrer aserrín por un día que limpiar manchas de pintura por una hora.

Y como esto fue un desastre, tomé muy pocas fotos. Aunque guardé algunas para traerles como parte del #monomad challenge. Espero que en ellas se note el reto que había detrás de este trabajo que se convirtió en algo de proporcioes épicas.
