I learned how to produce mushroom and that is what am going to put into practise right now.
The type of mushroom I want to produce is edible mushroom known as oyster mushroom.
Requirements:
- Saw dust from soft wood.
- Rice bran.
- Calcium carbonate.
- Spawn.
Saw dust 79%, rice bran 20%, calcium carbonate 1% and finally spawn is going to be added using table spoon. The saw dust must be thoroughly sieved to get rid of particles of woods that may puncture the nylon use for bagging the mixture called substrates.
A good knowledge of how to measure the percentage required is needed here. For the purpose of this production, I used 15litres bowl and called it 20%. For saw dust I measured 3 of 20% and another 20% is subdivided into 20 equal parts and replaced 1 of it by calcium carbonate. Also, rice bran is measured once .i.e. 20%.
Bagging is done in a manner that the nylon does not puncture/break.
