We love our eyesโฆno doubt
Yet in so many ways, we have put them at risk of both short and long term damage
Without even realizing it.
But thatโs why youโre hereโฆright now. Reading this.
Today I just want to bring to your notice those little ways we unknowingly expose our eyes to harm.
However, prolonged usage of our phones and laptops etc can bring harm to our eyes such as:
Blue light exposure: just as UV rays comes from the sun, blue light doesnโt just come from sunlight, but screens as well. It is equally harmful to the eyes as it leads to disrupted sleep patterns and potential long-term damage like eye cancer.
Dry eyes: Causes irritation and discomfort.
Eye strain: Resulting in headaches and fatigue.
To reduce these risks:
Follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look away from your screen and focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Itโs as simple as it sounds
Adjust your screen's brightness and contrast.
Use blue light filtering glasses or apps.
alsoโฆblink time to time to prevent your eyes from getting dry
Working (or reading) in areas with Inadequate lighting makes your eyes work harder than they ought to. This in turn leads to eye strain, headaches, and discomfort.
We donโt want that for our eyes
To create a comfortable working/reading environment:
Neglecting the nutritional needs of your eyes is risky
Eat healthy fam!
Make conscious effort to Include into your diet fruits such as: oranges, grapefruit, kiwi, pineapples etc.
And vegetables like spinach, carrots, onions
Alsoโฆlimit your intake of processed foods and high sugary snacks and drinks
Una sha dey take risk oh
Environmental factors such as intense sunlight(UV) and dust can be harmful to your eyes.
Get yourself a pair of sunglasses or a hat.
Where them when going out.
It adds to the swag when done rightโฆ.just so you know
Iโm sure you canโt recall the last time you had your eyes checked.
For an organ so delicate, you donโt have to wait for an problem to occur before you get your eyes tested.
It is recommended that we get our eyes checked at least once in two years.
Thatโs not too much to fit into our busy schedulesโฆis it?
Regular eye checks can help you avoid โit could have been managed if you came earlierโ kind of scenarios. Bette be safe than sorry.
These are minor things that may not mean so much at the moment. But in the long run...
Our eyes deserve the best!
Let's do well to give them the very best
