Well... after having an eye on the tournaments for so long on Steem-monsters, I've finally given it a go! Most of the problem has been the same as any competitive online gaming... lack of time and the non-alignment of the competition times with the parenting and work schedules! However, today I saw a tournament that was on at 1000 local time... and I'm at home with no kids... so, why not!

It's incredibly how this competition with the knock out rounds really puts a new shot of adrenaline into the game! It's great!... I haven't felt this since the my days of playing League of Legends, Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike. I was worried at the start that there would be nothing automated, and that I would have to do a lot of learning on the fly... but, thankfully the dev team have set it up really well... all you need to do is to tap on the battle button when it is your turn to play a round.

So, far... I'm going okay... I had a bye in the first round... so I could see how things were playing out. The second round, I really thought I was going to be overmatched, but managed to pull out a squeaker of a win in the last of the best of 3.

3rd round just finished... so my heart is still pumping, but I managed to get a solid 2-0 win to progress to the fourth round. So, now I think I'm in the prize money rounds... Not bad for the first time... The prize money is pretty small for this beginners tournament (oop, the 4th round has started... time out from writing!... holy crap, I'm in the 5th round!).... but it is the experience which is nice.

I'm not sure how many tournaments I'm going to enter in the future... it does take up a fair bit of time (nearly an hour now...), just like any other synchronous online gaming contest. I guess, if I'm sitting at the computer anyway (like today... it is a sort of nice distraction from the task at hand (writing emails and invoices...), but I'm not sure if it works for the general day to day when I'm trying to handle kids... or if I'm on stage!

That said, I really do like the concept of the tournaments. It really does add a new dimension to the game which is great fun, and the bonus prizes is really nice as well!

Okay... now to see if I can survive the 5th round... seeing as my expectations were pretty low for my success (I was going to be happy if I could even survive one round!), this is all bonus!
