... and the other half of the Goldbacks purchase, the set of four 10 Goldbacks that make up the 2022 set of American states. These are twice the worth of the 5 Goldbacks that I posted a couple of days ago. Honestly, I think there needs to be some other name for these things as a "currency"... something akin to dollars... I really don't like the name Goldback, as it doubles for the company, and the collection, as well as the "currency". Too weird...

Although these are worth more than the earlier 5 goldbacks, there isn't any appreciable difference in weight or feel... so, that is again a little bit of a strange thing... the artwork is still stunning, and different to the 5s, but apart from the number in the corner, it is sort of hard to tell what is what...

... or perhaps I'm too used to Euros and Australian Dollars, where every note denomination is a spectacularly different colour! From what I understand (and correct me if I'm wrong...), all US dollars are similar in colour as well? So, I guess you copy what you know...

Now, what was REALLY interesting was the day that I went in to purchase these things... as I had mentioned before, it was on my day off... and I had missed out on it last time I was in the city...

... but what was quite stunning, was that it was the first full day AFTER Trump had announced the worldwide across the board tariffs... unsurprisingly, this is causing a bit of a flight to safer assets... and bullion is one of those assets. And the little hallway outside this bullion shop was PACKED! It took nearly two hours for me from entering the line to exiting with my new shinies... and people were picking up large orders for gold, silver, and platinum and lots of other precious metals!

For instance, whilst I was there... the two people near me... one was purchasing 15,000 AUD in gold... and the other was buying out the remaining supply of buyback silver, which at that particular moment was 25 ounces... and now the website says that there is no buyback silver on stock any more!

Amazing... so, whether it is a true thing or not... people are snapping up gold and silver! Hopefully that doesn't mean that there are interesting times coming up... but definitely, the feeling amongst some is that the potential for that is definitely not zero!

EEEEP....
