Did you know…
The notorious Post-it Note is the product of a laboratory accident?
Story.
In 1968, Dr.Silver Spencer a scientist at the company 3M, deemed one of it’s projects for superglue a failure because it wasn’t tacky enough.
Another employee, Art Fry had the idea to use the weak glue as bookmarks to his hymn book. Removal of the adhesive did not damage his books and it soon became an office staple.
In 1980 (almost 20 years later), Silver and Art eventually persuaded 3M to produce wads of the canary-yellow paper we have all come to know as Post-it's.
Fun Fact: Post-it’s were initially called Press ’n Peel.
......
How it Works:
The adhesive is made up of tiny bubbles (microspheres) of urea formaldehyde resin.
The bubbles break free under finger pressure without leaving a sticky residue; ideal for all surfaces.
This pressure-sensitive adhesive allowed reuse, which quickly made it an everyday necessity for the office and home.
