Time is an inevitable concept that ticks life away. It is the most intangible force of nature and the ultimate levelling factor in the universe. It is something we all have in common in different quantities and try as you may, all we can do is be subjected to it. In a hypothetical sense, what if time was a stream, and you could literally jump into the brook to different phases of your life?
We've all had bad and good days that have shaped us into the people we are today. I'm proud of the man I've become despite my rocky and unorthodox route to the present. I think about my life, the way I'm living now and my feeling about society, mindset, and mentality, and there's just so much I'd change.
Take your mind back to a different time, a time when things were different for better or worse. Perhaps it was the day you met the love of your life, or maybe it was the day you failed an exam. Whether good or bad, these events carefully carved us into the beings we are today. I know we say it very often about changing aspects of our history "if we knew better", but do we ever know better?
The past only exists in the cognitive part of our brain, it can be likened to a folder that stores only essential information but if you could open those files and just view it from your point of view, what would you take out of it?
It is something we fantasize about and has been played in various movies but at least for now, making changes in the past or future is a distinct impossibility but learning from it to influence the present is all we can do.
When I think about travelling through time, I think of jumping to some clandestine moment in the future to see the kind of man I'll eventually become. Did I finally overcome the problems I have today? What are the new issues I have? What kind of father am I? Am I a father? Perhaps if I see a few clips of my future, even if for one moment, I'd be able to make some sense of everything going in my life at this moment.
I've read about the possibility of soul travelling and some sorcery-Esque procedures where one's consciousness travels through time. Some believe that an in-depth introspection of yourself can reveal your future or a projection of your present form into the future. Imagine if you could actually do it with pinpoint accuracy, what would you like to do? Will you jump to some point in the future or maybe re-live a moment in the past? It's just a thought, only a thought.
