Yesterday, I got around to claiming the Duat token for my main account and all my alts. It wasn't as tedious as claiming Larynx token but it certainly had its issues.
After claiming the Duat tokens, now we simply wait to claim Ragnarok NFTs with our Duat tokens. I'm not really keenly following the Ragnarok show but every now and then, I encounter a publication that talks about it.
I must admit though, I have some concerns about Ragnarok because of the early signs. These concerns also extend to the SPK network project.
At the time of writing, the claiming page and general interaction with the project are extremely tedious. The front-end for virtually everything is frustrating to use.
For starters, I've found Dlux to be a very complicated platform to use. I completely gave up on using the platform after Hive folks NFT project.
Anyway, I keep thinking that if just claiming tokens is this tedious, then how stressful will Ragnarok actually be?
It is important for the developers of Ragnarok to remember that on Hive, we've already been spoiled with Splinterlands. Splinterlands had its own early beginnings, but times have changed and the bar is higher than it used to be.
If Ragnarok doesn't hit the ground running, it might die out really fast. That's why it is essential they keep the game and associated links fully functional.
I'm just saying that someone that experiences the stress of the monthly Larynx claim and then also experiences how tedious it is to place a buy order on Dlux could give up even before the game is created.
As one that spends a lot of time playing video games, I can tell you for a fact that the most important things are functionality, complexity and of course graphics quality. It is okay to make it complex but make sure everything works, and we'll be good.
The level of competition means that there's no room for errors. You're trying to capture a market that is already hooked on something else, so you have to offer them an incentive to play your own game.
After the claim drop, I wasn't exactly satisfied with the number of tokens I got. However, I didn't have a clue about where to even buy the tokens but I knew I'd find out eventually.
Just as expected, I ran into a publication by @edicted that explains how to buy Duat token. Honestly, reading the steps to make a buy order kind of made me not want to buy the tokens anymore.
Not one to quit because of tediousness, I still went ahead to place the buy order. All I can say is that there were a little bit more padlock icons than I liked to see.
After my experience, I'm quite certain that there won't be a huge crowd of passive investors breezing in and out of the marketplace.
First of all, the marketplace for Duat tokens (https://vue.dlux.io/dex/?api=https://inconceivable.hivehoneycomb.com#duat) is not even easy to find. Then after you find it, you have to contend with the complicated buying and sell order arrangement.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited about the launch of Ragnarok. I'm a big fan of the team behind the project and I strongly believe that they have the capacity to come good.
In fact, the only reason I'm expressing my concerns is because I really want the game to be successful. The only way to achieve that and go mainstream is by making every aspect of the game easily accessible.
Right now, beyond the mildly complicated Dlux front-end for claiming token, accessibility is a real issue. As much as the official Ragnarok account publishes links in their editorials, I believe that right now, these links to aspects of the game should consistently be in our faces.
