The past two weeks have been quite tedious for me. The events of my birthday distracted me from the stress but for the most part, I have been under the weather.

I haven't actually had a proper break in a long time and I think it is starting to take its toll on me. To make matters worse, the weather has also chosen to betray me as it has rained more than usual.

When I went to the hospital last week Saturday, the doctor told me that there's a bug in the air because of the weather and I'm one of the many casualties of the season. After prescribing the drugs, rest and relaxation were highly recommended.

The problem is that I honestly don't know how to take a break. In between SPlinterlands scheming, planning my publication for the day, and managing a couple of communities, there's really no time to actually rest.

The irony about depriving myself of rest is that the body will eventually demand it from me; when it does, it will not care about my schedule. It takes rest by force and that's where I am right now.

I don't know if I can afford it

Let me be completely honest, I', genuinely petrified of resting. I always think it is too expensive to just unplug from everything and let things pass me by.

Every time I step away from my laptop, it feels like I'm missing out on opportunities and that fear pervades my mind. Time is money and despite being young, I feel like I can't afford it.

The irony, once again, is that the lack of rest takes its toll on me and that in turn, adversely affects my level of productivity.

For example, in the past two weeks, despite using UV protection glasses and dim lights on my devices, my eyes have been struggling with them. I can barely look at my phone and laptop screen without feeling a headache these days. Even using the television that is a safe distance away from me also hurts my eyes.

My body is obviously telling me to reduce my screen time and while I'd love to do that, I fear that I may not be able to afford it. At some point, I'll probably have to see an eye doctor but for now, I'll be intentional about getting in more vitamin A into my diet.

So many plans

Making financial plans in a bear market is tedious since there's hardly enough money in the system,. Alas, this is my situation as my wife and I plot our relocation out of Nigeria.

This bearish situation also makes it a bit more difficult for me to even remotely consider taking a break. I need every single dollar that can come my way because the process is quite expensive.

On top of our relocation plans, I also have to balance it out with getting funds to run the home and stuff like that. It is near impossible to actually "rest and relax" because my mind is always working.

In any case, I know what my brain and body need. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a holiday but for now, I'll work through the pain and continue trying to squeeze out more value from my time and effort.
