And Ecuador only puts nature first on paper. Unfortunately, there's no way of enacting that. There has been a lot of destruction anyway, and if it wasn't for local protests and sabotage, it would be even worse. Even Correa himself, who put that into the constitution a couple of decades ago, was for oil and resource extraction. "Safe", they say, but it never is. In the end, it seems to have been more for marketing than for actual protection for nature.
