Raining season has finally started, and that sometimes gives the opportunity to do some interesting shots. Shutter speed, still practicing on that. Or at least as much as possible, given that the rain was incredibly strong, like a waterfall. We noticed many leaks in the roof and the fact that Danny hadn't built the rain channel to the end turned out to be a bad idea, with water splashing any were, with high speed out of the part that was done. We improvised, and put the par that's not connected yet below the waterfall coming out of the active one:
That's also the first one that I used shutter speed on. As you can see above, it looks like a stream of water. Funny enough, with a 1/3000 shutter speed, everything looks different:
That was around 2min after putting the improvisation detour in, and you can already see the lake that is forming at it's end.
If the stream becomes drops, I thought, maybe I can do the same with the rain. Turned out not so easy because of one thing I can't really control on the cellphone - focus. The stream I could focus on, but drops in the air? Not really. Looks a little bit like snow that way:
What I found out later is that, yet again, the photo app built into my Motorola Edge 60 Pro does a great job. I zoomed in to take pictures of the water falling into the puddles below the tree you see above, and it was able to make it look pretty spectacular:
That was at 1/6000 shutter speed. You can distinguish the many small rain drops from the big ones that are falling from the tree leaves, causing the puddles to splash and making it look like a WW1 battlefield.
I took a video, too, just to illustrate the amount of rain - and how loud it was under the plastic roof, which was supposed to be a dampening one. Don't want to know how it would sound under a regular one... I uploaded it via threespeak, hope that works:
Seems like it. I like that I can embed @threespeak videos now, well done, guys!
Eventually, the rain got a little less and I dared to walk the two blocks home. The streets were still flooded. We're close to the lowest part of town, and everything comes our way before going 2 blocks further down into the creek, which in these events becomes a torrential river. I didn't go down there, did that a few months ago, after bringing Ellie home in the rain. I did take time though to take a few pictures of this vortex above a drainage:
I would've loved to have a little paper boat to be swallowed into the watery grave.
On a personal note, I'm doing a lot better. I might be returning to writing more, soon, as I found a new worker to do the sales. When he's trained, I can focus on administrative only, which should leave some more room for my hobbies. I must say, it was nice to earn a lot of FIAT throughout the weeks, though.
As always, any feedback and especially tips and tricks are very welcome! As long as it's not AI generated content or comment spamming... 😅
Thank you for stopping by!
