An other sunny day in Cyprus. We started our day with a Cyprus Coffee. It really had an interesting taste.
Let me tell you a bit about the Coffee of the Cypriots:
The Cyprus coffee is a unique speciality of the island and its‘ culture. The coffee is strongly brewed and prepared in a specific way. It is made of grounded coffee beans. You can order it plain (sketo), with one teaspoon of sugar (metrio), or with two teaspoons of sugar (glyki).
The guy who made it only needed one teaspoon of coffee for one small cup. After he added water and a bit sugar (if you like) - but Milk wasn‘t added - the coffee was cooked in a tiny long handled copper pot which they call „mbriki“. It seemed to me that the time of boiling is really important and has to be exact, then and only then you‘ll get the right taste for the coffee. The Coffee was pretty strong, so you should drink it slowly and in small sips...oh and don‘t drink the coffee layer at the bottom, it doesn't taste good!
After that strong coffee our body was full of energy, and we were ready to do our daily trip. Destination today was the Rock of Aphrodhite, which was about 27 km from Paphos.
When we arrived at our destination we've found a big parking area with a restaurant where you could just sit and enjoy the rocky view. But since we had so much energy we decided to go down the small hill towards the rocks...It was so mind blowing! The water, the rocks and the view, so stunning! You could see a beautiful contrast between the orange-brown rocks and the clear blue water. So peaceful and harmonious. We took some pretty nice pictures I want to share with all of you today.
