The tradition of fighting cattle in Aceh or Acehnese language is called "Peupok Leumo" (Acehnese) since the independence era until now still majdi tradition of Aceh society, especially in Aceh Besar.
This tradition is usually held after harvest and during the dry season. To test the strength of the cow and at the same time become a means of entertainment for the citizens.
The battle of livestock that is held every weekend, is one of the traditions between livestock owners in Aceh and become a tourist attraction. And for the breeders themselves aim to train cattle to stay in shape.
Peupok Leumo game takes about 10 minutes led by a jury. The pitted livestock is controlled by the jockey by holding the rope attached to the cow's nose.
The race was followed by several villages invited by the organizing committee. Winning cows will rise from the usual price.
