Hello Hivians, great to be here in this lovely community again. Now to the prompt by kerrislravenhill@kerrislravenhill, concerning legacy. This got me singing the remember me the song in that cartoon titled "mama coco". I am humming it right now. Who on earth doesn't want to be remembered, everyone wants to be remembered by someone especially after their passing in death ( except you were really bad and did mean and awful things while you were alive).

Which by the way is no way to live.

What legacy would you like people to remember you after you are gone?

For me, I will distribute my legacy into three major areas by which I would like to be remembered. These areas are as a teacher extraordinaire, a devoted mentor, and a light bearer.

As a teacher, I would like to be remembered as having brought many out of the dungeons of ignorance and illiteracy and into the light of the sea of knowledge as vast as it is. Teaching is a major passion of mine and it extends beyond the classroom into the very quarters and cubicles of the learner's mind.

Having the ability to mold lives and people and watch them grow into that which is expected is quite an amazing feeling and I know it will be surreal when these learners exceed the given expectations and soar higher in their strength and capacity having been shown the light.

I would like people to say at my passing "I am happy I got to know her and happier I was taught by her". I would also like to hear people say(if I can) that "oh I owe a major part of my success story to this wonderful teacher", and "I made a lot of improvement academically and socially because of her input in my life". I would like to impact the world of education and give my quota to the future of academics.

Next as a devoted mentor, I would like to be remembered as having helped a lot of young people improve their lives through my shared life experiences and challenges and real stories of how I became a better person.

It is rightly said that experience is the best teacher but my emphasis is on the experience part. Many times I have come across some mentors who are ashamed of sharing the details of their lives with their mentees and when I say details I mean the; ups and downs, the challenges, the failures, the betrayals, the times when they felt like giving up and throwing in the towel at life and the many crises that have helped to shape them to becoming who they are now.

I believe these young ones would benefit from the real deal and not just from the success stories all through. Don't get me wrong, the success stories are superb in attracting them but I also believe in being real with them as well having in mind that they are our future and the leaders of tomorrow. So yes I would like to be remembered as a devoted mentor, who did not give up on anyone but fought to see and bring out the best in all that comes my way.

To crown it all I would like to be remembered as a light bearer, a daughter of consolation, one who brings joy and laughter to the lives and souls that she comes in contact with. I mean one of man's purposes on earth is to give. You should not leave people the same way you met them, I believe you should seek to make them better.

If it is through your gifts, words of encouragement and affirmations to them, giving a helping hand, a listening ear, a warm hug here and there, you will discover that all this thoughtfulness goes a long way in making another human being happy which is reciprocated in making you happy as well.

I would like to be remembered as one who touched lives and hearts, as one who brought joy to the hearts and homes of her friends, family, kin, colleagues, and even acquaintances. It might seem like a lot or an almost impossible feat but trust me it is not. One thing that I feel should top our list, more than acquiring material things or titles should be selflessness.

The zeal to seek the good and well-being of people in your sphere of contact should be consuming. A particular story from the Bible comes to mind here, this story is about a woman who devoted her time and resources to sew clothes for the less privileged and widows of her day. She did this of her own volition daily for a long while before her untimely demise. She later died and a minister of God was called (that's apostle Peter), when he came, he saw many widows crying and wailing and also showing him the clothes that this beloved woman had made for them.

This moved him to pray and perform a miracle of bringing her back to life. Isn't this amazing? she might not have been known as a first lady or an empress but I believe that she would have been honored as one at the time of her passing.

Her name would be told and retold in bedtime stories until her name became a legend in the hearts of the kids who listened to these stories been told. What an amazing legacy and as I stated earlier it's not an impossible feat because many have treaded that part and we honor them. I can remember Mother Theresa of blessed memory, who dedicated her life to selflessness.

To wrap it up my legacy that I would like to be remembered by is that I lived my life building lives and making other lives better.

Thank you for reading, always remember that you are loved just the way you are....... Peace
