This post is a little addition to a moment in time, in which I remembered fondly a wonderful old pier that used to grace this little town. Unfortunately I had mainly the memory and only one small old picture on this laptop, I went to my old laptop to see if I could find any better

Well the quality is still grainy and there are only a few, however I thought I would share them as they still evoke an image of a time when our town was in its glory; the days always seemed sunny and we had such lovely attractions, it's easy to see how the town gained popularity I would definitely have chosen to come for a day trip!
I'm not sure if it's an english thing or just a me thing but I love day trips, to me one of the wonderful thing about becoming a parent was I now had even more more good excuses for day trips and my kids have grown up knowing every seaside town, every museum, every fair or event and we have happy memories of them all.

England, I am happy to say, is very good at local events and excursions. When I was little I listened avidly to old relatives telling me of charabanc trips and picnics, visits to the seaside and candy floss, and I desperately wished there was still such a thing as a charabanc, I would have loved going on those trips they had. I knew that when I had children we would go on as many picnics and day trips as I could fit in and even now they are mostly teenagers I still make them go to the park and swing on the swings with me,

I make them go to the beach and build sandcastles with me, my oldest is twenty three my youngest twelve and I am very lucky and happy to say that even when they don't feel like going anywhere they will do it at first just to indulge me, then they soon begin enjoying themselves and for a moment their busy lives full of work or college or school, for a moment they laugh and run and play and forget about homework, taxes, mortages, and I feel life is perfect when I hear my children relax and play and the sun warms our skin and we have no more thought beyond being happy
Sandcastles and swings are important
no matter how old you are find time, make time to go on swings and get sand between your toes and find pretty places to have picnics
