Hallo, liebe Community.

Hello, dear community.

I would like to take you on a trip to beautiful Austria. My father, my two brothers and I did a canyoning and white water rafting tour in the Ötztal valley in Austria about 4 years ago.
Originally, it was only planned that my dad and I would go, but my brothers spontaneously decided to join us on the tour. So we all together picked out a nice vacation apartment directly in the Ötztal and also booked all the tours directly from home ....

Friday we started early towards Austria ;-), the drive was an ordeal, because we drove with my father's Mini. My car was in the workshop at that time. So we had to squeeze ourselves and the luggage into the Mini, which was not easy.
Because of that we had to take many breaks, because my brother and I, sat in the back, we had to get out again and again to stretch our legs. We still got through very well without a traffic jam or long waits other than the breaks. On the way we visited some sights like the castle Neu-Schwanenstein and the gorge.

As you can see from the pictures, there is a great suspension bridge above the gorge to get to the other side of the gorge and take another route down into the valley. I actually wanted us all to go over the suspension bridge, but my dad was too scared of heights, so we decided to descend the same way we came. Once we got to the bottom, we ate something by the lake before continuing on to our lodging. We finally arrived sometime in the evening and were able to move into our apartment, which was really nice - everyone had their own room and bathroom.
In the evening we couldn't do much because everything in the village was already closed, so we discussed the next days together and then fell into bed.
The next morning we booked the canyoning tour at 10am.

Canyoning day.
In the morning we all got out of bed very badly, we had ordered a nice breakfast for the morning so we could start the tour strengthened. Around half past nine we walked about 1 km towards the tour operator where some other participants were already waiting. Around 10 o'clock the tour guide came and took us into the building and gave us a little tour so we knew where everything was and where to go.
After that we got a theoretical briefing on rappelling, cliff jumping and mountaineering and then we got our equipment for the day which consisted of a wetsuit, neoprene socks and canyoning shoes. I was worried that everything would be a little too thin for the glacier water as I get cold very quickly.

At about 12 noon, we were taken by bus towards the summit. When we got to the top, we immediately started rappelling down an 8 meter high bridge into the gorge, which of course always takes a bit of time with about 20 participants. But those who were at the bottom could already pass the time, we all got to know each other little by little. And so we descended further and further down the gorge. In between there were always interesting places where we had to either jump, slide or rappel down, always into the cool water.

Everyone quickly realized that the equipment was just great - no one even started to freeze, whether it was due to adrenaline I don't know 😀😀.

We also had a great guide who really had it together. Who also gave us a lot of confidence, which made the tour even more exciting, at some point we descended into the valley very quickly because he hardly had to give us any help positions, everyone felt safe and had a lot of fun.

After about 2 km of descent through the gorge, we arrived at the meeting point after about 4 hours. There we all ate a snack together. (Small snacks) before we took the bus back to the organizer. There we all said goodbye and went to our accommodation before we all met again in the evening for a barbecue and celebration in the garden of the event building.

The rest of the evening was also very fun, we were joined by 2 more guides and a whole group of raffle participants, and we all partied into the night.
The next day we had our rafting trip planned around noon. However, I'll tell you about that another time in a new post.
I hope I could give you again, beautiful insights, from my tour and take you on a small journey.

I hope you like this article again and you follow me for more.
