I don't know what cavepeople wore thousands of years ago, but strangely, I know what I would wear if I was a cavegirl. I'll admit it may have a lot to do with my caveman partner and his overactive imagination however I'm ok with it because I rock the look. Maybe I even have just such an outfit already, but I'll not confirm or deny it here on my blog, and I'm not about to post images.
I think about simpler times in a world I find moves increasingly faster in the wrong direction. I have often wondered what it would have been like to live a hundred years ago, five hundred or even five thousand, and thanks to the weekend-engagement concept I have the chance to head back even further and be a cavegirl this weekend.
I took this image...with my cavegirl camera
I'd have my cave set up just so; naturally the central feature would be the fire. There'd be bearosaurus, sheepskinosaurus and sabre tooth tiger furs strewn around for comfort, soft furnishings are important you know, and I'd have loads of scented candles around the place also; a cavegirl must have beautiful fragrances around of course. I'd bring the outdoors in by way of some pot plants, and on the walls my caveman and I would create artwork, little stick-figures of us doing various things that we can look back on and recall to mind; cameras aren't invented yet even though I took the image you see in this post with one. Of course, I'd need a wardrobe also, I'm thinking one of those walk-in ones with shelves and drawers all around for all my outfits; oh the joy.
Speaking of outfits, this is what I'd wear. Remember, this outfit may be influenced by the thoughts of my modern-day caveman and his cavegirl fantasies, but yup, I'd rock it, so I don't mind deferring to his cavemanly fantasies.
On any given day I'd have on a fur bikini top; it's large enough to cover the essential parts, but small enough to ensure my caveman guy isn't tempted to look away for long. I have it in every color of course.
A fur mini skirt is my go-to summer style, and in the cooler months I have a longer skirt made out of brontosaurus hide. I also have some active-wear made out of tyranosaurus skin, and didn't that take some effort gor my caveguy to get!
I'm into boots so when I'm not wearing velociraptor flip-flops I have fur boots that come to just under my knee-height - Long enough to send the right message - and not too long that they send the wrong message about my character. Naturally, I have different color boots too, and they're not all fur, I have some made out of diplodocus and tetradactyl hide...My cavemen went to great lengths to get the latter. A cavegirl must have variety you know.
That's pretty much it, I'm a basic cavegirl and don't need a lot of clothes., besides, the climate is temperate so having too many layers would make me too hot.
I think I'd make a good cavegirl. The modern world isn't something I have a lot of time for and the simplicity of cavegirl life appeals to me.
I'd spend my time gathering nuts and berries for supper, picking flowers, bathing and doing yoga whilst my caveman was hunting and showing off his overall cavemanliness, and there'd be a lot of time for swimming in the lake with him, nude of course because bathers haven't been invented yet...oh hang on, but I have a bikini top...So, let's not delve too far into that ok? Let's just say nude swimming is accepted practice for cavepeople so bathers are not necessary, but bikini tops for caveman-enticing are.
There'd be afternoon naps and with all those comfortable furs in my cave I'd not even get sticks and leaves in my hair when my caveman and I...you know.
In the evenings we'd sit by the fire, listening to the crackle and pop of the burning wood eating snacks and cuddling, we'll talk about the future and live in the moment. It all sounds so human and so far apart from what modern life is like. There's no alarm clocks, no phones or computers, barely any other people and very little pressure to do anything but survive and thrive. I think that sounds wondrous.
