I've been fortunate enough to have travelled to many places around the world and have had some amazing and beautiful experiences along the way and all have stayed with me; fond memories of places, people, events, food and the simple pleasure of travelling to new and familiar places.

Currently travelling isn't a possibility for me, no matter how interested I am in being in new places, and it doesn't feel nice; it's not a trapped feeling but feel inhibited and considering how important travelling is to me I'm left feeling...anxious I suppose. I want to travel.

I read a quote the other day that read, "own only what you can always carry with you: know languages, know countries, know people. Let your memory be your travel bag," by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and it resonated with me in a time when travel is so much on my mind.

It made my thoughts pivot away for longing for travel and towards the travels and experiences I've already had, those valuable moments of life, and how important they are.

I've done some incredible things in my travels, costly things and others that cost nothing at all, and when I open my bag of memories they all come flooding back, not just the thought of the moments but the feeling of them, and I find great comfort and happiness in those memories.

I remember the sights and sounds, the smells...bakeries, gardens, the ocean, wilderness, restaurants, fields of flowers and so on. The memories open my emotions and I'm there again, in those faraway places. It's what I need right now, the immersion in those memories and the feeling of being away; I've been focusing too intently upon what I don't have, the ability to travel currently, instead of the things I have had, the moments of past travels and their memories.

I know I'll travel again and I know where I want to go; I think it's important to have goals and ambitions as they give a person something to aim at. Until I can travel I'll remember the places I've been though, the people I've met and things I've done and be content knowing they cannot be taken from me. It's a comfort.
