Let me show you how to make sweet Banga soup known as (Ofe akwu)

I made a native soup today known as ofe akwu , let me show you what it looks like.

Nigeria is a country with different tribes with varieties of food, we the south easterners known as the igbos have different types of food and all are delicious when prepared with the needed ingredient.

One of those food is known as Banga soup or ofe akwu, this is a very delicious soup that is enjoyed by the easterners.

Lets look at the ingredients for this delicious food.

Palm nuts is the major recipe for this food that is why the food is known as palm fruit soup, i used two custard cup of palm nuts, 400g.

In the above picture, i have one kg of beef, six pieces of yellow pepper and two locust beans known as okpie, there is also the leaves known as scent leaves, lets see what more i have here.

Thats crayfish, a very important ingredients for any Nigerian food, it helps to bring out the taste of the meal.
Then I have my 2balls of onion, a teaspoonful of salt, a cube of maggi, then lets cook.

Note the quantity of all the aboved ingredients depends on how large you want to make your Banga soup, am making just for one person which is me and myself.

Step one

You will process the palm nuts by boiling it till it gets soft, then mash it with your pestle and rinse it with two cups of warm water.

Step two

Boil the beef and dry fish with salt, pepper and maggi, make sure you boil with little water so that your banga soup will not be too watery.

Step four

Boil the Palm nut water for two minutes then add the cooked meat and fish and allow both to cook together.
Add the crayfish, locust beans and pepper blended together.
Allow it boil till you see it gathering oil at the top.

Then add the sliced washed scent leaves then cover to continue cooking for few minutes more.

Then boil your rice 😋 to enjoy your well cooked Ofe Akwu also known as Banga soup

You can serve this with rice, or any carbohydrate of your choice.
