Friday started off with more varnishing along with a lot of wrapping, packing and prepping.

It occurred to me that I needed to varnish a few more paintings before I could send some of the parcels out so that was done first thing yesterday, which means mail out might be delayed for another week 🤦🏻‍♀️.

While all that was curing I decided to take stock of all the recycled "canvases" I had left. I was recycling wooden/cork placemats & coasters bought from the local Salvos but have sworn I will never set foot in that store ever again (long long story) so now I'm kinda stuck between abandoning my boycott or sticking to my guns and calling it a day with my recycling efforts.

Anyway.. After rummaging through the office I managed to gather and prime all the remaining placemats and coasters I had left from previous hauls.

By the time everything was primed twice, thrice over and taped at the back the sun had set on me and I was stuck with artificial lighting 🤦🏻‍♀️

I've become accustomed to using pre primed canvases that I forgot how time consuming & laborious recycling these things were.

The good news was I managed to create a placemat and coaster set with what I had left and decided to play around with colours.

One

Not my usual colours but figured I better use that red and golden yellow on something ~ it turned out better than I expected. Very earthy and I'm liking the black cells.

Two

Back to my usual colours although that coaster is a bit how ya going.

Three

Sort of my colours but without the coral, more on the blue side and with black. Loving the touches of black here and there. It's providing a nice break from my usual whites.

Four

This time no teal. Mainly blue, purple, gold and coral in this set.

Notes...

  • I didn't touch the blow torch once today.
  • Don't know if you've noticed but I'm having issues getting cells lately. The last few pours have been tough going cells wise and I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong.
  • Really digging the touches of black here and there! Was really surprised at how well it worked out.
  • Not sure what to do with these sets lol It's a bit sad that it's a one person set.... You know, not a 6 piece set for a proper dining table setting... So who knows if I'll even keep it as a set.

It's Saturday today and hoping, if all goes to plan, I'll have a custom pouring table by the end of the day.

Did I tell you I designed a table for my pouring addiction? Bless my husband for being a fantastic enabler.

Wish us luck!!! This table has been in my head all week and can't wait to see it come to life.

Happy Saturday everyone!
