I had so many plans for Bella's room when I was pregnant. I imagined painting a mural, or maybe constellations on the egyptian purple wall, but time simply ran away from me and next thing I knew bub was out and I had zero free time.

In the last couple of months I've been able to enjoy some free time on the weekends thanks to Hubby. The problem is I have so many hobbies and things I want to do that I often have to prioritize and do what calls out to me the most.

At the moment it's Bella's room.

Bella's Room

With her cot now in the master bedroom we decided to buy a single bed for her room and follow through with the night sky and stars idea.

My problem was/is trying to decided and settle on a design. And because Hubby sleeps in that room (long story) I can't lather paint on that wall, meaning I need to pace myself and do it in stages so it's not so fumey.

I figured why not use a canvas to test designs and colours on so I can experiment without ruining the wall and smelling up the room.

Luckily, I use house paint for my acrylic paintings so I had a nice stash of colours to try out.

This taping up of the canvas and use of colours served two purposes.

  1. To see which colours worked well with the blue.
  2. To see if a geo-mountain-scape would look good.

The mountain.. Eh, not so good. But I reckon it's because the tape lines are almost as big as the painted areas and when done on the wall it might not look so bad.

Colour wise, my favourites are the teal, yellow and coral. The purple and magenta, I think are too dark ~ I wouldn't mind seeing a lighter purple and pink on it though.

Deciding on colours and design is actually really hard. The only thing I was happy about on the test canvas was the moon.

I tried to paint the moon as moon like as I could and even though I'm happy with the colour and texture, I think I stuffed up the placement. Looking at the photo ☝️ perhaps it could be aligned further to the left more... 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's funny cos I didn't really notice how it's almost out at woop woop until I looked at the photo? In real life I didn't think it was that bad?

Currently, I'm on the fence about the rainbow mountain so let's just add this to my huge "TO FINISH" pile next to the candles, cot bumpers and orognites 🤦🏻‍♀️

Speaking of the cot bumpers... I made progress with the sewing but the bloody foam insert is no good. I shall elaborate in my next bumper update.

For now, it's time for bed.

Hope ya'll had a great Monday!
