Happy New Year everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around much.
I've been on recovery mode ever since the doozy that was Boxing Day. There used to be a time, not that long ago when I could party all week long and not sweat it.
These days, one over indulgent night could mean days of feeling shit, and I'm too old for this shit.
My mind's telling me YES, but my body, my body's telling me NO.
Yup. I am getting old and I am also nesting like you wouldn't believe.
15 Days til The Move
15 days!!!!! OMG I can't believe we're almost there. To say I'm excited is an understatement and to say this New Year has been a time of reflection is also an understatement.
As I'm looking through our things. The culmination of 12 years of our life together and I see we never spent much money on our house hold items.
Our washing machine and fridge was second hand 10 years ago, we got a new fridge a couple of years ago but that washing machine is still going strong. We still have our old Kmart square starter plates, sure it's missing pieces from the set but she still works fine, works even better when you put a tissue underneath it so it doesn't wobble anymore.
My point is, I've noticed we have things for a long time and it occurred to me that maybe for the new house we can get new things. I'm not talking super expensive plates, cutlery or sheets or towels. It'd just be nice to have brand new cutlery and towels, plates that don't wobble.
I'm pushing 40 so I really should get my adult on.
Thanks to Steemit, I have spending money!
After investing in crypto, setting this year's school fees aside, powering up and my Santa haul the other day, my attention is now focused on kitchenware.
I have always seen Maxwell & Williams products at the expensive stores.
I'm a Kmart, BigW girl - Target sometimes if I wanna get fancy, so Maxwell & Williams, I always looked at from afar.
But when, Boxing Day (like Black Friday) Sales is on, things are 50% off AND you get a $10 discount when you enter the promo code....AND you have Steemit money behind you.
It's like the shopping Angels we're smiling upon me at that moment saying.
Go on child, Shop.
So I did and it's in the mail - I'm hoping those shopping Angels got in contact with the shipping Angels to make sure it all arrives safely and quickly.
I thought I was over the homewares obsession until I walked into this shop at Springwood today.
Oohhhh Pretties
I have this thing with tea sets. I have two sets that have been given to me and although I would love LOVE more, I know I would just have them for the sake of having them, if I used them regularly then I could justify it, so I'm content to oogle.
And really, I'd buy silver before I bought another teapot.
More tea pots.
The wooden handled ones are really calling out to me.
Maxwell & Williams!
I saw these on the website where I bought our new plates from and gotta say they look much nicer in person.
See the white platters and plates on the top right? Those are the ones I got for the new house. It was so cool to see them in person.
They also had....
Condiments!
Tea galore!
As if those teapots weren't tempting enough.
The most glorious collection of cookie cutters I have ever seen, it makes me wish I could bake.
.. And cleaning products! Makes sense!
I think this is now my 2nd fave shop in Springwood.
I forced myself to walk away without buying anything knowing I had a delivery coming and I also wasn't sure how much space we have in the new kitchen so I need to chill with the kitchenware obsession.
One thing is for sure though. I need to gather all the things we want to give away, take photos and post it in the Blue Mountains Pay it Forward group before we move.
I hope you're all enjoying the year so far!
Stay tuned for the next post. We went to Springwood so of course we went to The Hippie Shop and this time I took a few photos.
Watch this space!
