Introduction
This week deep dive is amplify. While monsters with this ability are not that often in my setup it is definitely not to overlook
Ability
Amplify will increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.
Official ability information from splinterlands: List abilities
Synergies / strategy
If this monster is hit by a melee attack it returns damage up to 1 damage, with amplify this can becomes 2. thorns return damage is capped to max 2
If this monster is hit by a magic attack return damage equivalent to the attacker's damage divided by 2, rounded up.
If this monster is attack by ranged then reduced damage is return. Damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up. With amplify +1 extra damage is returned
Note that when you play an amplify monster most likely you will also play a monster with the ability that does some return fire, these can nowadays easily countered with
Select / favorite
Monsters:
Summoners:
To determine the number #1 I must exclude grandmaster else it would be that summoner because everybody get amplify.
This was not an easy pick normally i would go for Queen Mycelia but that is more for the triage I do not often play queen mycelia because of the amplify.
Since I upgraded Dax Paragon one more level it has gained also affliction it often in my life team.
One Combo I really like to play is
Below you will find one match where i played this combo and explained in more detail.
Strategy
Because of the earthquake I will be choosing the life team where I also can play Dax Paragon
Rulesets
Equalizer:
All monster will have equal health. it it maxed to highest health monster. so try to pick as many monster as possible.
Earthquake:
All non flying monster will get 2 damage at the start of turn. Starting from the second round.
Heavy Hitters:
All monster will have knock-out. When a monster is stunned a known-out monster will do double damage.
The Lineup
Summoner
Monsters Lineup
| Summoner | #1 | #2 | #3 | #4 | #5 | #6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Summoner: Lux Vega
My number on summoner in gold I play her so often and delivers me a high win percentage. in this battle it either her or grandmaster rathe. But I only got grandmaster rathe on level 2 so not all monster will be optimal performing.
The +1 shield is also important in this game at least the first round no damage will done by the earthquake.
Pelacor Conjurer (lvl 8)
Important to demonstrate the amplify ability of of Dax Paragon
High health with magic reflect is the play here. And has flying do will not take any damage from earthquake.
Celestial Harpy (lvl 6)
Normally low health now because of equalizer it get 7 health from the equalizer rules set.
Again flying important to not take any damage from the earthquake rule set.
Dax Paragon (lvl 5)
Star of this week no flying so it will take some damage but some heal and equalizer, hope that it will survive for a long time.
Time Mage (lvl 6)
slow so the change I may hit first will be increased also the rust will take some shield down.
Adelade Brightwing (lvl 3)
Made the team for its resurrect a repair and flying.
Djinn Renova (lvl 5)
Increased healt might have a advantage on my opponent and the triage to do some healing along the way

Rounds
Start :
Also a nice team by my opponent. The +1 range from general sloan might hurt me alot.
some magic monster so Pelacor Conjurer and Dax paragon can do their combo.
Round 1:
Two time the Dax Paragon has empowered the magic reflect doing 2 more damage than my opponent.
Round 2:
Because of the Dax paragon is could kill Djinn Renova. which will benefits me big time.
Round 3:
Now Lux demonstrates why speed is important i may hit first and therefor killing two monster of my opponent leaving him in a bad position.
Round 4:
Last round, again due the speed i can hit first and finish before my opponent could od something.
Conclusion
In this battle it is demonstrated why amplify can be pivotal
Some other battles examples
Both battles the same strategy as above. The extra damage really helps in this case
This is a demonstration of Queen Mycelia in combination with the Djinn Chwala.
