I painted this piece years ago and always love to share it again and again on Christmas. It continually, Year after year, helps me to reminisce on Christmas seasons past. The childhood memories of innocence and hope inspire those warm feelings today and for weeks to come. Even though it is a holiday themed oil painting, I leave it up all year long; Mostly because I am proud of this painting.
Painting this one. I remember that I wanted to include people, but I am not good at painting faces. I made the decision to paint them with their backs to the viewer, thus avoiding the dreaded faces. Haha. One can also interpret these people however you’d like. They could be two siblings, or a parent and a child. Either way they are enjoying their time on the eve of Christmas, doing some last minute window shopping. I can almost smell the holiday foods, Wood fireplaces burning, and the hot chocolate. I can also imagine the sound of folks caroling and exchanging pleasantries.
And I want to wish all of my friends and family a warm, hopeful, and happy memory filled day with your loved ones. I hope this painting of mine, brings back some good feelings of holidays past.
