1460 Day's Since That Terrible Night ..

Today marks four years since we lost our sweet Pepper .. And though time has passed, the memories of his joyful spirit still bring tears to our eyes. It feels like just yesterday we were walking through the neighborhood, Pepper at our side, his curiosity leading the way.

[Pepper died in the early hours of September 12th, 2020, surrounded by my wife, Molly (RIP 10/3/2023) and I. Even though it does get better, I find it hard not to relive those hours over and over in my head.]

From the moment he joined our family...

Pepper's inquisitive nature shone through.
He explored every corner of our home and yard as if it were his personal adventure. Walks weren't just routine—they were his time to discover the world, and we were lucky enough to be along for the journey. He never missed a beat, pausing to sniff out something new or curiously watch the birds in the trees.

He was more than just our companion ..

Pepper shared in all of life's moments .. Painting sessions in the studio, where he'd sit quietly, observing every brushstroke, and our trips, where his excitement and energy added so much joy. His love for his sister, Molly, was evident in every interaction, and we can still see the way they would cuddle up together, comforting one another.

Even though he's no longer with us..

Pepper’s spirit lives on in everything we do. We miss his little snuggles, his bright eyes, and the way he was always so present, as if he knew he was an essential part of our daily lives. His memory brings both joy and sadness, but we wouldn't trade a single second of the time we had with him.

We miss you, Pepper, and we’ll carry you in our hearts forever.

The Wind Against Our Faces

IMG_2170 (3).jpg

“Pain is a pesky part of being human, I've learned it feels like a stab wound to the heart, something I wish we could all do without, in our lives here. Pain is a sudden hurt that can't be escaped. But then I have also learned that because of pain, I can feel the beauty, tenderness, and freedom of healing. Pain feels like a fast stab wound to the heart. But then healing feels like the wind against your face when you are spreading your wings and flying through the air! We may not have wings growing out of our backs, but healing is the closest thing that will give us that wind against our faces.”
