It's A Beautiful Day Today ..
And what happens around our house on beautiful days? I guess the same thing that happens every other day of the week regardless of what the weather is like. That is an honest statement when it comes to Molly and her cookies, because there is no day that is not a beautiful day when cookies are involved.
The Cookie ..
Over the years Molly has taking a particular interest in cookies. I suppose all dogs like treats and handouts, but Molly has grown fond of one particular type of cookie. The animal cookie! That’s her favorite.
We buy them in bulk when we go to a big storage store close by. I don’t even know how many cookies come in one of those containers but there is a huge amount of them. When we had two dogs they would go a lot quicker, but I’m finding out that they’re still being reduced pretty fast on a daily basis.
I know this because we keep a small container of roughly 20 cookies, next to the rear sliding door. This is where Molly goes in and out throughout the day and evening. Every time she exits and re-enters the house, she immediately looks up at you and waits for … you guessed it… An animal cookie!
I can’t tell you how much she loves these cookies. She sticks her nose up at many other kinds of cookies, dropping them on the floor immediately after giving them to her. What can I say she’s a girl who knows what she wants and is willing to wait for it.
The Swatting Circus Dog ..
So today, like so many other days, I’m going to give her a cookie when she comes inside, and try to show you her circus like swatting trick (not really circus worthy or a trick). But this time I am going to hold it ransom. I am going to hold it ransom until she gives me a little swatty-swat for it. Molly tends to swat every time she wants something. She’ll stand on her rear legs and swat her front paws at you until you give her what she wants.
A video would be the easiest way to show you what I’m talking about, but I’m not about doing it the easy way today. I am going to show you but show you with a series of pictures instead. Pictures are more fun anyway and you’ll get a good idea of all the strange faces she makes in her different, cute poses as she swats away at the camera.
The Beg and Swat Set
I'll call this first set 'The Beg and Swat Set'. She is going to come in the door and begin begging immediately for the cookie. Then after she has waited a good while and thinks I had forgotten about her, she’ll begin swatting.
The Snatch and Run Set
The next set of photos I’ll call 'The Snatch and Run Set'. This is where I’ll actually hand her the cookie and just about get my fingers bitten off. I probably deserve it though, putting her through this display of cuteness. In a very brief amount of time she will free my hand of the cookie and runoff with it into the distance, where she will consume it in record time.
Now That's A Happy Doggo ..
She's 13.5 years old, so we hardly deny her anything she wants that will make her happy. And given her Addison's Disease, she has a rough time keeping weight on her bones. This girl can eat! and never gains an ounce. She doesn't know how lucky she really is.. lol.
I can't lie.. Sometimes I eat the cookie too (wink wink)
