Hello, artists and art lovers!
Today, I want to share another digital collage I鈥檝e been working on recently. This time, I wanted to play with a contrast between something cold and lifeless and something full of color and life.
While working on this piece, I started thinking about how we sometimes feel worn out by life. There are days when we feel tired, emotionally drained, or just not quite ourselves. We keep going, do what we need to do, and try to look fine on the outside, even when things feel a little different inside.
That thought eventually led me to the idea of a cracked stone statue with a garden growing out of its chest.
For the main subject, I chose a monochrome statue with visible cracks across its chest. Instead of leaving those cracks empty, I filled them with colorful flowers. I really like how these two elements work together. The statue feels cold and almost lifeless, while the flowers bring a sense of warmth and movement to the image.
I also added a golden sun to bring a little warmth to the composition. I didn't want the whole piece to feel too dark or sad, so the gold seemed like a nice way to balance the grey tones of the statue and the bright colors of the flowers. I wanted the final image to have a slightly vintage, almost classical art-print look while still keeping the surreal feeling of a digital collage. Looking at the finished piece, I think my favorite part is still the garden growing from the statue's chest. It's a simple idea, but I like what it represents, even in places that seem cold, damaged, or forgotten, life can still find a way to grow.
I've included all the images I used in creating this artwork below.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my work! I'll see you in my next post.
