I was just browsing the website of the Goznak Moscow State mint as I came across two very interesting coins. One cool ship battle motive and a series on Elk.

Arrr, or not so Arr
It's not really a pirate design, but still very cool. It shows the victory of the Russian fleet over the Swedish armada during the Great Northern War (1700-1721). It has a very low mintage of just 250 coins and is minted on 999 fine gold. 1 And if my eyes don't deceive me its a fricking 115.5 gram gold coin... 5 troy ounces! I really don't want to know how expensive that is...

More Moose, errr Elk.
This series is available from 1/4 ounce up to 1 kg in fine gold and sterling silver. 1 kg of fricking gold, those Russians.
I wouldn't mind owning one of those one day. Especially because every single fraction and even metal of this series has its unique designs. At most, you get maybe a unique design for each fraction, but they did make one for every fraction of this series. A unique design for the 1-ounce silver coin, a unique one for the 1-ounce gold and so on. They really did their homework on those coins, would love to see this with other mints as well. But sadly they are a bit hard to get. I haven't found too many of the larger fractions on the market. Anyway onto the coins.
They were minted to raise awareness for animal conservation. It is part of the "Save our world series" which has been running since 1992. And there is a very good chance that each entry of this series has so many cool designs. I definitely need to look more into Russian coins.
