Magical Monday Photo Fun

For a change this week it was not raining. We almost had a sunset. I took some pictures any way. The first one was just a total have fun with the software and the picture and see what I could pull out of it. I like the results. I like the results better than the ones I tried to edit to make a presentable picture to be viewed. You saw the thumbnail, so here is the picture. Comments of course are always welcome.

So here are a couple of comparison photo's that I played with. The original is directly below. First edit was the straightening of the water level, so it did not appear to lopsided. I used the Nikon Camera specific software for this first step on both of the picture. I did do some minor color boosting in the Nikon software before shipping it over to the Paintshop Pro software. I used P.S.P.'s flash fill to lighten the foreground some, and then the back-light fill to adjust the dark levels, this allowed a little more color than the original, but it seems washed out just a little bit. A pastel style painting verses an oil painting.

For this one I mostly used the Nikon Camera software, and just a little bit of the P.S.P Software. This one I like much better than the one above. The colors seem more natural to me, and not as washed out looking. Just enough of a color boost to bring the orange out and highlight the reflection on the water just a little bit more.

Winter is rolling in, we will have some snow on the ground one of theses days, I don't think the first one will be any thing significant and likely wont last long on the ground. We did have our first false snowfall last week, about an hours worth of snow that dissipated almost as fast as it fell. So earlier sunsets, later sunrises, I may actually try to get some sunrise pictures this winter.
