Beekeeper Beginner - A Few Thoughts - Part 2 - Decision is made!
Two days ago, you read the first part of my thoughts on the topic of beekeeping for those who, in their thoughts keep the dream, one day, become a beekeeper.
Further narration, I will lead in the first person, so my thoughts on this topic will be clearer.
I, one of those who protects this dream and in every possible way, is preparing to jump into the huge and fascinating world of bees.
In the two years since I thought of becoming a beekeeper, I read a lot of literature, watched thousands of videos about beekeeping and talked with beekeepers.
Since I made a firm decision, the first thing I did was choose a place for my apiary.
I didn’t just choose, I acquired a plot of land.
Yes, the bees made me do it, I resisted a little, but I did it.
I chose a place, taking into account the fact that, in a radius of five kilometers, there must be many honey plants.
Five hundred meters from this site, a huge plantation, or forest, from acacia, on the banks of a small river, many willows and wildflowers.
Within a radius of five kilometers there are many orchards, fields with sunflowers and other flowering herbs.
It is very important that b, these plants bloomed at different times, that b bees could work all season, from spring to autumn.
The first honey collection is dandelion, medunica, willow, birch, alder.
Following them, meadow grasses appear and orchards of fruit trees bloom.
The end of May - July, acacia begins to bloom.
Closer to August, bees collect nectar from sunflower.
A place for pasiki plays a very important role.
This is a real strategy in real time.
As in any strategy game, there are positive points, and there are negative points.
You may have nearby bad neighbors.
Such a bad neighbor can be the Shrike bird, which feeds on bees.
You must be very vigilant that, b, your bees, on which, you have high hopes, have not been eaten.
Your enemies will be very vigilant, they will look for a weak spot.
In addition to the Shrike, you will have other bad neighbors, but do not despair.
The main thing is to know the enemies in person.
Gradually, we delve into the world of bees and learn their secrets, which will become the key to successful beekeeping.
