Saturday and Sunday are market days around here. Our Saturday market, Peach Street Farmers Market, started off cold. Like 31 degrees cold. Given the cold temperatures we really weren't expecting that great of a turnout, but by the end of the morning we didn't do too bad. We have some 'regular' customers who showed up just like they do every week. Sure, we could have stayed home, but we love our customers.

Our Sunday market, Galveston's Own Farmers Market, also started off cold. Not quite as cold as the Peach Street market. It was above freezing somewhere in the 40's. We were hopeful that the cold wouldn't keep people away, but I guess Galveston folks aren't as hardy as those in Angleton. It was a rather slow morning, but by the end of the day it was still well worth our trouble to be there.

As always, we had plenty of microgreens available. Our standards are kale, basic and spicy salad mixes, purple radish, pea shoots, and sunflower shoots. We also had plenty of our aquaponic lettuce, more Meyer lemons than we knew what to do with, honey, chicken and duck eggs, and a few bunches of mustard greens. Not a bad haul for this time of year. By the end of the weekend we sold out of everything except the lemons and microgreens.

We have some friends who lost their home in the hurricane Harvey flood who are staying with us right now, so we spent last night chilling by our fire pit roasting hot dogs and s'mores. It was the perfect ending to another great weekend.

Today may be a holiday, but here on the homestead there are chores to do. I guess it is time to go feed the ducks and clucks, fish, check the aquaponics systems, water the microgreens, and more . . .
