Lately I have been in a fight with myself. I am getting older and trying desperately to use my old tricks to get in shape, but they do not work anymore.
So I have altered my thinking and adjusted my ways...a bit...you know, little by little.
While I was working out during the longest workout I've done in years, I had to talk myself into pushing and challenging and finishing.
I decided to make myself a little gift to remind myself that I am STRONG.
This isn't the first time I've done mini embroidery pieces. I made myself an 'OM' symbol when I started my journey into the world of meditation.
And I made a cute little magnet for my mom, for her birthday one year.
So I grabbed my trusty travel kit and wrote out a message for myself.
I read somewhere, a really good tip: only use thread as long as your arm and just have multiple threaded needles ready to switch out.
Two would prove to be way too conservative...I changed needles 4 more times.
It wasn't the masterpiece I had in my mind, using chain stitches for 'upstrokes' and a satin stitch for the 'downstrokes' to bring out the hand lettered calligraphy look.
But I made two big mistakes.
Firstly I didn't make a border stitch for my satin stitch to hold onto so my stitches are all over the place!!
Secondly, well I sort of gave up on the 'g' as I started to run out of thread and couldn't bear to thread another needle!
That said, I will hang it proudly in my gym to remind myself that I am strong and I can beat this hormonal nonsense!
