I find Job to be almost too painful to read. I was widowed. My wife was 30. Our children were stillborn. We didn't have much but we adored each other.
Job says this in chapter 29:
“How I long for the months gone by, for the days when God watched over me, 3 when his lamp shone on my head and by his light I walked through darkness! 4 Oh, for the days when I was in my prime, when God’s intimate friendship blessed my house, 5 when the Almighty was still with me and my children were around me,
Yes, God restored Job but his 10 children were still dead.
We know that whatever happens to us as Christians is for our eternal good. Sometimes life is very painful. There's still joy but sometimes there isn't much happiness.
