Hello~~~ I am back to digital for today because I'm afraid I might forget how to do digital if I keep focusing on traditional. And I have been focusing way too much on traditional again because it just gets way too comfortable at some point.
For today, I wanted to do a forest healer fan art because idk, I like the forest healer a little too much. Maybe next time I'll do a creature fan art when I get a good grip on this new digital software someone told me to try. But for now, I'm just going with a style that's comfortable... well, not really comfortable since it's a bit of a new style again, but it's pretty close to the one I've been trying to adapt lately.
Software: Medibang paint
Duration: 3 hours
I started this one this morning while everyone was asleep XD and I was kind of trying out a less detailed manhwa style? Though it doesn't even look like manhwa? But I still wanted it to look really soft so I went with such a light green palette for this one.
This is where I began my sketch coloring phase because I usually do not even like my sketch phase anymore. I went with a bit of olive for the hair and I really wanted to retain this monotone green while moving forward woth the painting. I had thought that sticking to a watercolor brush would be the key here since you always get such a soft and subtle finish with the watercolor brush.
But then, by the hair phase, the thing I was aiming for clearly was not attainable with just watercolor so I ended up doing an airbrush layer too, and eventually an oil paint layer for the hair. Like, I needed it to have a bit of texture but also a bit of good pigment so I had to go with these brushes.
So by the end of the hair phase, I was so irritable with the hair that I tried a bunch of things until I just ultimately gave up. But playing with the hair already took me like an hour and that was where most of my drawing time went, honestly. I did forget to take more progression shots though because I was so fixated on figuring out what to do with the hair to make it look a bit more natural and a bit more wavy because the forest healer has pretty wavy hair. But I did the best that I could with the little free time I have today.
Well, this is all. I have to take my little sister to the mall so she can buy her school supplies. I hope tomorrow, I can work on something as well because I am really enjoying this consistency of mine even if it's only been like 4 days since the start of august.
Hopefully my Monday won't be as busy as the previous days so pray for my poor worker soul, guys ;;-;; And I Wil definitely see you guys soon!
