Back again with day 2 of the inktober challenge!
The prompt word for today is scurry
What does this mean?
Based on the merriam-webster dictionary:
Scurry (v)
- To move around in a hurried pace
- To move in an agitated, confused or fluttering manner
When I first saw the definition, my first thoughts were "Oh I definitely can't draw action yet" Becuase I still struggle a lot with dynamic poses, I definitely had to find something I could draw so google is the key UwU
What I later found was that a group of squirrels or chipmunks are actually called a scurry or a dray. I think they're named like that since squirrels tend to move in a scurry, and I do think it's a very fitting collective term since a group of squirrels always move like they're agitated or confused.
It's a funny term, and one I don't hear or read often on my side of the world.
I don't have a long update for this one aside from the fact that I experienced hand pain for the first time in a while, and that I definitely don't enjoy any form of stippling. I just have the patience for it but definitely not the hand dexterity anymore. Perhaps if I practiced stippling more but nahhhh
Also, I had a huge problem with this drawing because my orange pen ran out of ink when I started on the orange layer, so I had to make time to some again. It was well worth the delay thhough because I'm pretty happy with how it came out UwU
I find my day 1 and day 2 inktober entries funny though because the contrast in aesthetic is huge!!! From grotesque gargoyle to cute alvin and the chipmunks kind of thing XD
Materials used: Yellow and red ink, yellow, orange, red, brown, black, and white pen
Duration: total of 4, almost 5 hours, but I kept going out while I was working on this so my energy kept getting redirected to the commute and not to the drawing.
