The beginning of autumn has not yet brought us a riot of golden age, when yellow, orange and red colors merge into pure gold. There is still a lot of green, but it is no longer fresh and bright. A walk in Kronstadt was more likely associated with large forms than with flowers, so ... I abandoned color in favor of bw.
In post processing, I like to tint the monochrome a little. But this time there will be no even light toning. Everything will be strictly black and white in completely manual mode (without using presets).
And we will start with the main temple of Kronstadt - the Naval Cathedral.
The weather that day was sunny, but sometimes a cloud came and the shadows became softer. However, I could not afford to wait for the next cloud for the next shot. Sharp changes in light and shadow had to be extinguished in post-processing.
The Naval Cathedral cannot do without anchors. Perhaps this is one of the few things related only to the sea. I do not take into account the anchors of river vessels.
It is not difficult to combine a cross and an anchor in one symbol if it is an Admiralty anchor. Hall's anchor would look out of place here.
Here I was attracted more by the geometry of the picture ... or maybe I'm lying ...
Here colors are definitely not needed, they distract from the essence, but I could be wrong.
However, let's go back to bw and finish the close-ups.
Please note that every square inch is decorated with something. And so along the entire facade of the temple. Here you can spend many hours finding new parts.
Now we are moving away from the Naval Cathedral and going down a steep cliff ... I don’t know what it’s called correctly. It was once a canal that led to a dry dock. I'll show you this doc later. Now water flows along the bottom of the former canal no wider than an ordinary stream.
This stream runs into a wall of brick and stone. Perhaps there used to be a gateway here. Now it has become a bridge over a moat overgrown with greenery.
The former dry dock is now filled with water. There is even some kind of fish here. The banks are lined with natural stone, water, lots of greenery - a good recreation area for the townspeople. You ask, where is the green here?
If you cross the bridge and climb the steps to the other side, you will find yourself in the park. There is also an observation deck. There is another interesting red brick building. I didn't understand its purpose. But I'll show you that next time.
