The lion sat ruminant in the shadow of his favourite tree, after the monkey was gone.
The monkey hadn't shown its face in a long time, which had annoyed him quite a bit.
His little friend had told him about his adventures and of all the things he was busy with.
That had annoyed the lion even more.
First he didn't ever show up and now he is reminiscent of all the great stuff he did without him.
As if that wasn't enough he even started to ask questions!
What did you do?
Who did you meet?
What are your dreams?
Eh. The lion lowered his muzzle between his paws. With closed eyes he listened to the
rustle of the leaves and the steppe gras.
Fortunately, the monkey did leave eagerly once he spotted the troublesome gleam in the eyes of his friend who tended to find even his friends quite appetizing once he became really angry.
What did he do?
Even for the hunt he had been too lazy, he was only skin and bones.
Desperately he had been looking for a fitting companion a while ago. That would have been great.
A good wife could have done the hunting, too!
Wherever he showed up he had been welcomed nicely, but after a short time he would become restless and go back to curl up beneath his favourite tree.
What a peculiar lions life!
No one there to hunt his food and thanks to his tendency to befriend his food he lacked the respect and understanding of his own.
Dreams..What did he dream about?
In his dreams he ran for miles though the lands, his muscles flexed and it seemed to him that he was flying through the forests, villages, desert and steppe with the mountain range on the horizon.
He saw the whole world lying beneath his feet and his roar flowed out of his proudly swollen chest thoughout the country. Below the tree laid his wifes and his children tumbled wildly in the sand.
Happy and certain of his victory he won every fight.
Tired he lifted his head and felt the soft wisp of wind in his mane.
How was he supposed to tell all this to a monkey, who saw him lay starving under a tree?
It is cumbersome to think about such things in this heat, he thought to himself, better to just rest and have a good midday sleep.
