Money can't buy happiness, so I heard. But isn't it better to be with money in Paris and spend lavishly when one is sad than be with none in a god-forsaken country where sadness rules? Haha.
Money is the only great intoxicator that doesn't have an age limit. There is nothing like, "Drink responsibly attached to it, instead, we have... Drink forever".
It is no joke seeing how the sound of money has made even the most Saint of all turn devil. That's how powerful money can be. When we all hear the sound, all reasonable thought always turns to Pluto in a jiffy. It is quite amazing how money can do that. Don't you think?
I know you have your mind swirling around thinking, "Oh, goodness God. What is she bringing to the table this time around?" And I have an answer to that, "Just be calm and listen as you will have a question thrown at you now. Yes, right now;
"How well do you know about currency exchange?"
Haha... Calm your nerves as I know many of you would say, "Yeah, I know a lot". Just shhh and drop off your haughty shoulders as we drive on.
Being the good lass that I am, I am giving you the chance to get as much information as you need to get on currency exchange in all countries so you won't fall victim to this. Don't say I didn't tell ya.
As the title of this post says, "A boy was asked". Asked what? Yeah, I know you'd like to know what he was asked and thankfully, I am here to get things started.
Alright, my coming in here isn’t meant to pull your laugh strings but to educate us on money. Yes, I would recommend having your children read this too. Don’t thank me yet, let’s read through to see what the story entails.
So, I went out to see a friend today after a hundred years of being apart and threatened that I would get a visit if I don't come to visit. And, knowing how dramatic she could be, I decided to be reasonable and visit instead. This has nothing to do with the fact that I don't like my peace disturbed.
On getting to her place, we went out to get some things then came back to start our "Talking career". After some hours of talking endlessly and listening, which I am sure anyone with a remote would have fast-forwarded, we heard some sounds outside her place and decided to listen in. I know you might think us some old nosey neighbor and you are not wrong too. We think it too.
As we listen in, with a cup in hands to the wall, we heard a man ask a young boy (by his tone);
“Do you prefer 800 billion naira or half a billion?”
And without giving it much thought he chose the latter. Half a billion! That is huge money, you have to agree. But surprisingly it brought laughter all around as people mocked him for his statement. It was then a woman decided to tell a story that happened in her days.
According to her, a man was asked, which he preferred, 100 dollars, or 100 million naira. And unsurprisingly, the man chose dollars. Who wouldn't have? It is huge money. And seeing that it is foreign currency.
She added that the man asked his wife to borrow some money to prepare a nice dish and also tell the landlord they would buy the house they were staying in which she did.
It was said that the man was given a box full of dollars and he was so happy that he hired soldiers to escort him to where he will change the money adding that he will pay them till they die. Haha. And who are we to argue, of cos, he can. Isn't it?
The army of soldiers he called brought out cars to escort him to "Bureau De Change" to cash out the huge money. When they got there, the man went in to discuss with the Mallam (Aboki) who changes money, and it was said that the man couldn't come out after the Mallam told him what he will be collecting. And it's crazy cos I don't know why he didn't, but if you do, you can buzz me up in the comment section.
Still yours truly,
Balikis.
Thanks for reading.
Peace be unto those who have it and more to those who chase it away.
