Sometimes the simplest of things can take forever to create.

Will anyone believe me when I say this took approximately 1 hour 20 minutes?

Why so long?

It's one thing to have the idea in your head, it's another to bring it to life and another to be satisfied with what you're looking at.

The idea is the simple part, as it always is.

Anybody can be the bag of ideas, it's not something that is in short supply.

The ability to turn ideas into something people can see, use and experience, well, that's talent in a much smaller supply.

I wanted to design something to reflect the anticipation of the next month, being November.

I knew I was going to have to switch the size up from what I've recently worked with. I believe the size above would fit perfectly into an Instagram story feed.

With the size switched up, well, figuring out what needed to be the center of the message to be communicated was easy.

We aren't in November yet, so that chapter was still sealed, hence the door handle, to suggest a place not yet accessible. Same as the lock icon replacing the "b" in November at the bottom.

The blurred image at the top signifies a future that's not yet visible.

I stopped writing this and went back to create a different version of this simply because I had a thought.

Here's what that version looks like:

Well, which do you like best?
