Hello my dear friends. Today I will tell you about my hometown Osmancık. Actually, I've been thinking about posting this for a long time. But I waited to be here. I came here after my Ankara trip. I am here with my family and I am very happy.

Merhaba değerli arkadaşlarım. Bugün size memleketim olan Osmancık’ı anlatacağım. Aslında uzun süredir bu paylaşımı yapmayı düşünüyordum. Fakat bizzat burada olmayı bekledim. Ankara gezimden sonra buraya geldim. Burada ailemle birlikteyim ve çok mutluyum.

Osmancık is an outer district of Çorum province. Since my childhood, its population has been between 30-35 thousand. Osmancık, which is a small city on its own, is the largest district of Çorum. Osmancık is the place where Çorum, a large part of which is in Central Anatolia, is in the form of a small protrusion in the Black Sea Region when viewed on the map. The reason for this is that Osmancık, though not as much as the Black Sea, is green and surrounded by forests.

As far as I realized, when I started living outside while I was not aware of it when I was a child, it stems from the city's source of livelihood. In my own mind, I evaluated the city as three parts and the one that divides these three parts in parallel; I have come to the conclusion that the Kızılırmak and the Istanbul road, which connects Istanbul to the Black Sea, are the main sources of income.

Since the day the world was founded, water continues to dominate here as well as being the source of life, preferred by people for settlement. There are paddy fields along the Kızılırmak. These vast paddy fields, almost like a green sea, are a source of livelihood for the vast majority, as well as a jewel where the world-famous Osmancık Rice is grown and made the city known.

The Istanbul road is a busy road used by people from many different cities, especially during holidays and holiday periods. This density is also a market. Not only did the people of Osmancık fill the part of the road that passes through the city with workplaces and make this place a source of livelihood, this situation also provides a lot of employment. From another point of view, it also provides a cultural fusion.

Although I do not know how old the city is, I would like to talk about the historical buildings that I know. These are Osmancık Castle and Koyunbaba Bridge. If there is a castle in a city, it means that the city has been attacked. There must have been an attack on Osmancık once in history, as the castle was built. Since I am not very good with history, I have no knowledge.

Although Koyunbaba Bridge lost its old historical appearance after it was restored, it is obvious that it is an old structure in terms of shape. His story is as follows; Sultan Beyazıt, whose father died during the Ottoman period, sets out quickly to catch up with his brother in order to take the throne. When he came to Osmancık, he could not cross the Kızılırmak and while he was looking for a cure, the saint known as Koyunbaba, who was a shepherd in this region, came to his rescue. Koyunbaba, who takes Sultan Beyazıt on his back, crosses in the blink of an eye. Here he promises Koyunbaba that he will build a bridge. Sultan Beyazıt, who arrived before his brother and took the throne, forgets his promise of a bridge in the turmoil. Later, he makes Koyunbaba remember the imaginary word of the bridge by entering his dreams and has this bridge built.
