Nnamdi Kanu's name has been the talk of the town for quite some time now owing to his vituperative comments, derisive annotations, divisive intent, ethnic jingoism, secession agitation and a whole lot of other adventure he had committed himself to. He had overtime received varied broadsides and flak from presumed well-meaning Nigerians who are visibly sympathetic to his cause or who saw a method in his madness but who chose to conceal it. A wailing cry of marginalisation, sidestepping in the constitution of the government of President Buhari, being dealt the short end of a stick have been his bugbear and recursive tales of woes and these anomalies have stoke his fire of agitation in making sure that the wrongs are righted in the country. Considering the nature of democracy which for all intent and purposes is a reflection of craziness, universal suffrage or the resolution to vote for an aspirant in an election post should be the prerogative of the voter(s). That is the hallmark and fulcrum of democracy. But if as a result of some factors which are creating and deepening the mistrust and distrust of the ethnic groups in the country, a voter deems it unfit to vote for an aspirant or a large concentration deem it unfit to vote for a president aspirant, the aspirant should with equanimity bear the outcome of the election. Voting in Nigeria is based on religiosity, ethnicism, cronies, emotions and whatsnot. However, that is not enough reason for a presidential aspirant who clinched or enjoyed a wide support of voters to ostracize those who did not vote for him. That should be the psychological moment for him to mend the fissure that was degenerating and inundating the political ambience.
In President Buhari is an antithesis of a stateman. He was elected to govern every Tom, Dick and Harry in this country and not only Tom because he belongs to his ethnic and religion persuasion. The Ethnic division and gulf in the country have escalated into the stratosphere and he is wittingly doing nothing to engender a different public thinking. He treats those who gave him 5% in the last voting exercise with uncommon disdain and believes that it is their just deserts. A time bomb is thinking and the conflagration will consume and roast everyone in its wake. Those stoking and edging Baba on should tread with caution or the war will ignite in their houses.
Nigerians have been pigeonholed resilient people in situations but where suffering and blatant disregard of humanity reaches a crescendo, it becomes insufferable and the consequence will indubitably be dire. That informs the rise of Biafra agitative secession. There is nobody who will be subjected to such abject poverty, hardship and privation that will not talk when his staving off and inuring veneer has cracked. If they cannot be treated with humanity which they deserve, then there is no point staying in a country where unity is tenuous. Nnamdi Kanu volunteered himself and considering the mob he commands due to joblessness and deficiency of history or education, they lap up his battle cry.
As much as i like the revolutionary quiddity of Kanu, the way he goes about it leaves much to be desired. You cannot try to start or win a war without having allies or colleagues who will help achieve or actualize it. He has bad-mouthed every other ethnic groups because of his belief that they are quisling. The content is awesome and superb but the form is abysmal. He could do well in meeting up with some people of high calibre whose integrity and probity have not been sullied. That unwittingly has raised the Yoruba nation from its dormancy or acquiescence. No man will never stay where he has been told flagrantly that he is not needed. That is Kanu's stance and he demands for self-actualization of his people even if the politicians from his base tacitly support his cause but making a stern outlook to his actions. They have felt disenchanted for too long and there should be an urgent attempt to douse or it irreversibly explodes.
Claim of restructuring or straightening the convoluted nature of governance to better the lot of the Ndigbo has been Kanu's loudest hue. It is not rocket science. Proliferate the existence and lives of my people and the agitation will stop. Something has to give. The Nigerian government need to do something about it. People are feeling the pangs and pains. Life is uninteresting for a lot of people and this informs the never-ending spate of killing, arm-robbery and kidnapping in the country. Funnily, the oil that has dried and turned inconsequential due to his dwindling value reside in the South-east and this is what is used to sustain and keep the heart of the country breathing but you treat their land and people with viciousness. As stupid as it sounds, I stand with Kanu in his quest for equity and equality. Some people feed fat on our collective patrimony while we get leaner by the day to make ends meet. We only need someone to spearhead and every other persons will catch the bug of radicalism. I am not an Igbo man but i see a method in Kanu's madness. There is so much agony in the land. Solve this or radicalism will swell up. Nigeria...i heave.
