Is it really a sleep?
Or a state of temporary death
Where you hear not again
The voice of beckoning
And sees not
The envi ronmental occurrence
Sleep!
Do we sleep to die?
Or we rather die to sleep?
The living is ignorant
As it’s a coded secret
Only the dead can proffer answer
To the riddle
For we living
Just sleep and rise
To continue our earthly struggle
Sleep!
So peaceful
Yet can be terrifying
When the dark demon
Lurking in the darkness
Decide to bear its fangs
On the living soul
Pummel and torment us
Right in our sub-conscious state
Sleep!
An unavoidable natural phenomenon
That’s no respecter of person and race
So soothing
And comforting
That we all love
Yet hate its cousin
DEATH!
