Hello music lovers, this is my first time posting in this community and will also be my first time participating in Three tunes Tuesday.
I love music a lot and listen everyday though my taste is quite peculiar (at least to those around me). I can listen to anything, as long as it has a good rhythm I'll enjoy it. You should see my liked songs playlist on Spotify. It consists of a couple songs that have no business being next to each other. At times I play it just to see my vibe change from slow and almost sad to trap to hip hop to afrobeats and so on.
For the sake of uniformity for this week I'll be focusing on one artist. His name is Gotye. Gotye is an Australian musician and songwriter. I don't do much research on musicians, but apparently he stopped making music (atleast to the general public a couple years back).
I first came across Gotye a couple months ago this year. I was going down some rabbit hole on Twitter when I saw a short video about space and the background music was really nice. I had to use Google to search for the lyrics and that was when I came across Gotye's most popular and most successful song
The song talks about a guy who was completely cut off by his ex-girlfriend after breaking up. He doesn't want to get back, he just feels hard done by. One thing I like about Gotye is his weird videos. The concepts just draw me in and make the song more interesting to me. Somebody that I used to know was by far his most popular song having 2.1 Billion views on YouTube. Some call him a one hit wonder, but I don't think so after listening to some other of his songs. Somebody that I used to know is the most catchy while the others are a bit more deep. So it's quite obvious why it performed better.
The second song of his that I like is none other than
This song is beautiful because it managed to tell two different stories at a time. The lyrics tell a story of a guy who is in love with a woman whose heart is broken (probably from past relationships) and he's tired of waiting, while the video shows him going around the earth and taking away all the things that humanity has done (hurt animals, technology, injured war veteran) , they all float up into space.
The 3rd Gotye song I'll be sharing is
Life can get really boring and frustrating when you do the same thing over and over and over again. At times people just stop caring and just keep on going through the motions while everything around them crumbles slowly. This song talks about that and the video captures that perfectly. Once in a while it's good to do something new and take a break from the tedious and never ending cycle of life.
These are my three tunes for this week's Three Tunes Tuesday. Special thanks to @ablaze for hosting these. I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do. Tell me your favorite in the comment section.
